Cobblemon Realms — Biome Expanded Spawns v5.0
Major Overhaul From v4.9 → v5.0
⚠️ Compatibility Notice
v5.0 only works with Cobblemon 1.7+. It will not run on Cobblemon 1.6.
🧬 What Actually Changed in the Spawns
v5.0 is not a cosmetic update. It is a full ecosystem overhaul built around the new Cobblemon 1.7 spawn architecture.
Below is the detailed, transparent breakdown of what changed.
🌍 1. Full migration to Cobblemon 1.7’s new biome and condition system
Cobblemon 1.7 reworks the entire spawn backend:
- new biome tag structure
- new condition rules (canSeeSky, underground, water logic…)
- new spawn contexts (surface, grounded, subterranean…)
- updated routing for climate groups and biome families
Every Pokémon file in the datapack has been rewritten to comply with these rules.
Examples included in v5.0:
- Migration to the new
#cobblemon:*biome tags - Replaced outdated logic that no longer exists in 1.7
- Updated mountain, temperate, cave and other biome families
- Clean separation between surface, underground and in-water behaviors
This ensures the datapack is fully aligned with Cobblemon’s new spawn engine.
📁 2. Over 100 duplicate Pokémon files merged
A massive cleanup was done to remove conflicts between:
- non-numbered files (
victreebel.json) - and their official numbered counterparts (
0071_victreebel.json)
In v5.0, all “real” Pokémon spawn data has been merged into their correct Pokédex file.
Examples:
- Victreebel
- Seviper
- Dialga
- Many more (literally over a hundred)
Result: No more duplicates, no more conflicting rules, proper structure for every Pokémon.
Fakemons and custom Realms-exclusive forms were not touched.
🐾 3. Large-scale spawn distribution rebalance
Many species were previously too exclusive, locked into extremely narrow biomes or micro-conditions.
v5.0 expands their distribution to match Cobblemon 1.7’s broader, tag-driven environments.
What that means in practice:
- Several Pokémon now spawn across multiple valid biome groups instead of a single one
- Restrictions based on outdated biome lists were removed or modernized
- The spawn buckets were refined so some species are no longer artificially rare or artificially common
This is the first step of a long-term rebalance. Future versions will continue expanding, correcting or specializing various species as Cobblemon evolves.
🧱 4. Structural rewrites inside spawn pools
This update includes dozens of structural improvements:
- cleaned weight distributions
- fixed incorrect level ranges
- normalized spawn contexts
- aligned bucket logic with Cobblemon 1.7 behavior
- removed leftover obsolete conditions from pre-1.7 versions
The goal is a more predictable, more stable and more readable spawn ecosystem.
🌀 5. New Dimension Support (Where Applicable)
v5.0 updates several spawns to correctly work with:
- modern Nether biome tags
- updated End dimension logic
- revamped overworld climate grouping
Some species that were previously “exclusive” due to outdated dimension constraints are now correctly detected and mapped.
🔧 6. Preparing for future balancing waves
This update lays the groundwork for future improvements. As a result:
- some Pokémon now have broader biome coverage
- others will be re-specialized later
- certain families will receive deeper reworks in upcoming versions
The spawn system is now flexible enough to allow much more fine-tuned balancing moving forward.
📌 COBBLEMON SPAWNS INFO v5.0
This update is exclusive to Cobblemon 1.7+. It will NOT work with Cobblemon 1.6.
